Jason Miller, a senior adviser to Donald Trump, said Monday that the president-elect’s comments about jailing House Jan. 6 Select Committee members were taken out of context.
In an interview with NBC News’ “Meet the Press” that aired Sunday, Trump said that Democrats who weaponized Jan. 6 and justice against their political opposition – including anti-Trump former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney – should be investigated and “go to jail” for breaking the law.
When pressed if he would force his attorney general and Justice Department to go after political opponents, Trump said, “Not at all,” but admitted there could be investigations of unlawful political prosecutions.
