Richard Dixon was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minn. and lived there until he was old enough to make a run for it. After attending the University of Minnesota and Brown Institute of Broadcasting, he began his career as the morning host on a Southern California rock station.
Working his way across the Southern portion of the USA (any place where the temperature rarely got below 50 degrees was his goal), he eventually ended up in Birmingham as part of the popular “Mason and Dixon Morning Show” on the once-great Rock 99. When that ended, Dixon finally ended up where he belonged…in talk radio on 1070 WAPI. After a brief follow-up flirtation with rock radio mornings in Orlando, he came back to Birmingham as the afternoon host on 1070 WAPI.
Dixon has been married to the same woman for the past 22 years (and don’t you know she’s upset about THAT) and has one very precocious and annoying child who’s college-bound.
